Summer Show 2024

Drawn Together

18 June – 12 July at the Royal Drawing School

Drawn Together is a group exhibition showcasing the versatility and expansiveness of drawing and its fundamental role in artistic practice. The exhibition emphasises the way in which the boundaries of perceptual drawing can be pushed; from works on paper, metal and ceramics to woodblock prints and etching. This inaugural exhibition showcases 31 artists, all alumni of The Drawing Year, The Royal Drawing Schools postgraduate-level programme, and represents 24 years of the programme’s history.

This is the first show of a new annual programme of exhibitions celebrating the best of contemporary drawing.

Drawn Together is curated by Julia Balchin, Principal of the Royal Drawing School.

Exhibition open to view:
18 June – 12 July at the Royal Drawing School’s Maria Manetti Shrem Gallery Studios in Shoreditch
Monday–Friday, 9am–9pm | Saturdays, 9am–5pm

Royal Drawing School
The aim of the Royal Drawing School is to raise the standard and profile of drawing through teaching and practise. Located in Shoreditch, East London, it is one of only a few institutions in the world offering in-depth, quality tuition in drawing from observation. Founded in 2000 by HM King Charles III and artist Catherine Goodman CBE, the Royal Drawing School runs The Drawing Year, a highly competitive postgraduate-level programme offering up to thirty students the opportunity to focus on drawing from observation for one year. All students are awarded a full scholarship, studio space and receive tuition from a distinguished faculty of over 100 practising artists. In addition, the School runs a Public Programme of in-person and online drawing courses; a Young Artists Programme for children and young people who have a passion for drawing; and an International Residencies Programme in countries including; Scotland, Wales, Italy, the USA, India, Antigua and Jamaica. There is a comprehensive concessions scheme which ensures that the School’s courses are accessible to the widest array of students, regardless of background or circumstance.

Purchasing a artwork supports both the Royal Drawing School and artists.
