The Dance That Swallowed Time

£1,820.00

Egg yolk on porcelain tiles, 59 X 59 cm

Drawing from the vibrant rhythms of Poussin’s Dance to the Music of Time (1634–1636), the tiles lean on the circle of life as expressed by the dance to meditate on time. Multiple sets of tiles created in response to the original painting are reassembled in a collage-like fashion, with elements rotated or flipped upside down entirely to create a dynamic image. In this playful assembly, the tiles exist in a state of flux, remaining open to infinite arrangements. Some tiles may appear almost still; yet their significance lies in how they contribute to a delicate balance of stability and decay, capturing an ever-shifting dance that speaks to ideas of renewal and transformation.
